Via Choralis was founded in 1999 by Elizabeth Shannon Brown, a musician on the faculty of the Victoria Conservatory of Music. The choir performed classical works including the Messiah with an orchestra directed by Stephen Brown. Nicholas Fairbanks assumed direction of Via Choralis in 2015. During this time the choir sang Fairbank’s own compositions and incorporated other modern works into the repertoire.

Grant Harville, Artistic Director, joined Via Choralis in 2025. Previous Artistic Directors were Jody Onuma (2022-2024) and Kathryn Whitney (2024-2025).
