The Via Choralis Performance Society Proudly Presents a Choral Concert

Gerrit van Honthorst, The Concert, 1623

Elizabethan Spring

Artistic Director: Kathryn Whitney
Pianist: Yousef Shadian

Special Guests: Instrumentalists playing on 16th-century instruments

A special concert of music from the gardens, pubs, chapels, and courts of 16th-century England, France – and the New World

Join us to hear charming madrigals, raucous street songs, and to join us in some rounds & catches. You will some of the greatest choral works from the Golden Age of polyphony by Thomas Tallis and William Byrd from the court of Elizabeth I. Next, we travel to hear music sung in New France and New England in the 17th century, and our concert culminates with the stunning and very hopeful piece ‘Four Directions’, which is inspired by Renaissance polyphony, by Cree composer, Andrew Balfour.

Join us for an afternoon of music that will uplift and inspire, sung by Via Choralis with very special guests!
